Sepang 1000km Race
Consider as a baby sister to Malaysia Millennium Endurance Race (MMER), Sepang 1000km race was created to cater for more affordable grass root racing.

The only way to win the S1K is to be the first to finish a total of 1000km or 181 lap in Sepang International Circuit. Once a car finish 1000km then the race is over.

The class was divided into two class,class 1 with 1.8cc engine spec and class 2 for 1.6cc and below.

This also mark a change in the rules where only production car from year 2000 onward was allow. That instantly marked the end of Honda Civic EK chassis from local Malaysian endurance races.

With that been said, many team turn up with Proton especially Proton Satria Neo chassis.

Affordable, good handling and plenty of parts support, it could be the chassis for many many privateer team for many year to come. Even the factory team TEAM R3 turn up to promote the chassis.

Keeping the theme of new chassis, the new Honda Jazz with 1.5cc engine was one of the interesting new comer. I do remember that Ichishima-san from Spoon had comment that honda fit is a good touring car during a session in BMI Vtec Club.

Another chassis for the future is this Proton Inspira 1.8L or Proton version of Mitsubishi Lancer.

Well moving away from Proton, the Yellow Suzuki Swift Sport from team JC Racing was one of the two Suzuki Swift in the race.

Speaking of new chassis, here are the most fastest of them all, Toyota Celica. Although, the car is out of production now, but it was produce after year 2000 onward. Therefore this chassis is allow in S1K. There are 2 Celica in the race and one of them is run by the veteran team Kegani Autotech.

The last of the new chassis theme, was the 1.6cc Toyota Altis run by Team Type R racing. The car has a stock engine and mated with a manual gearbox. Not a quite rare to spot a manual Altis perhaps they had sourced it from neighbour country Thailand.

Nevertheless, Kegani Autotech took the pole and follow by Team Type R Racing. Proton Satria Neo from Team R3 took 3rd in qualifying.
