Event : Gymkhana 2011 Round 3 Date : 23 Jun 2011 Location : Cyberjaya A little intro for this event. Gymkhana series was launched in Malaysia early of 2011. After 2 round of event held this year, finally i decided to pay a visit to an event that is inspired by Ken Block's version of gymkhana.

After the loss of Dan Weldon in Indy last week, yet motorsport suffer another blow as Honda rider Marco Simoncelli pass away after suffer a big crash in MotoGP Malaysia 2011 in Sepang International Circuit. The race was red flag and cancelled after that incident. Above video will show how it happen and my condolence to Marco's family.

At every race weekend, the ford rally team crew build this high tech rally HQ in service park to give the best possible environment for it rally team to work in and entertain their VIP. After the race, they dismantle it apart and ship them to the next race location. That is hell a lot of work and coordination. Well done Ford!!

Event : Super GT Malaysia 2011 - Day 2 (Race Day) Date : 18 - 19th June 2011 Location : SIC Just a quick recap for Super GT 2011 Malaysia round, Team Weider HSV-010 took the win in GT500 while Team S Road MOLA GT-R and Team KEIHIN HSV-010 took second and third place. Nevertheless, it is a good weekend for Honda in Sepang Circuit.

Drift Muscle series is a break away series from D1GP aiming more on grassroot level. It is the way that Keiichi Tsuchiya and Daijiro Inada always want a drift event to be more focus on driving skill rather than the car performance. Above video are the clip of the round 1 in Maze Circuit.

Event : Super GT 2011 - Day 1 Date : 18 - 19th June 2011 Location : SIC Again thanks to Buggershot, i finally had the chance to shot on this event. It was one of those event that i always wanted to attend. Aside from the large pool of pretty model (Japanese and Local malaysian girl), it was the car that really attracted me. The wild wide body kit, striking livery and crazy car design were the criteria for Super GT race car.

Gull wing door, long front end and loud 6.2 liter V8. This is what made the SLS so special. The AMG SLS GT3 for sure had attracted a lot of attention and increase the already competitive GT3 segment even further. Porsche, Ferrari, Audi and Lamborghini watch out the Mercedes SLS GT3.

The LFA Nurburgring Edition lap Nurburgring in a astonishing time of 7.14. Here are the video to back their claim. Well done Lexus

Scorch Racing S15 best lap run in World Time Attack Competition 2011 in Eastern Creek. Driver, owner, and builder Suzuki-san or better known as under-Suzuki managed a very good timing of 1'31.4560 and fifth place overall. This video show what is like to be in the driver seat when attacking corner after corner in a properly built time attack machine.

During the event i was stationed to cover the pits activity and nearby track action. Shooting in the pit area could sometimes give you some surprises which you don't get to see often as all will be focus on the activity in the track.

Event : AFOS 2011 Date : 28 - 29th Apr 2011 Location : SIC Sorry for the late posting but late better than never. Finally i had time to blog about AFOS 2011 event which i attended in April. I was seriously tied up with all my day works and shooting. AFOS or Asian Festival Of Speed is a event where consist a few races such as the main race GT Asia Series, JK Racing Asia Series and Asia Touring Car Series. For this event, i was helping my buddy from Buggershot to cover this event and thanks Buggershot for the media pass.

Gatebil Norway's craziest motorsport event on newly rebuilt Rudskogen track. Some of Formula Drift USA personnel were present in the event such as voice of Formula D Jarod DeAnda, Ken Guchi and Norway very own drift king Fedric Aasbo... Mad Mike MadBul had been reverted and upgraded. With new Peripheral Ports 4 rotor and new livery design, the madbul look much better than before.

In recently Pike Peak hill climb event, Monster Tajima had smash the event record with a 9 minutes 51 seconds. Finally the 10 minutes barrier had been broken and thanks to GoPro cam, we can enjoy the blistering speed of Monster Tajima's run.

Event : KBS Drift 2011 - Round 3 Date : 1 May 2011 Location : PutraJaya, Presint 2 KBS or Kementerian Belia dan Sukan had organized a drifting event recently in Presint 2 Putrajaya and it is round 3. To be frank, I had no idea it had held so many round previously prior to this. Anyway, it was a sudden call from my buddy Wingz to come over for some fun shooting. So here are my coverage of the event.

HKS once again show the world what they are capable of. Their latest creation the HKS R35 GT-R GT800 racing spec have a crazy 900ps and 100kg-m on board. Soon we might see over 1000ps GT-R as these tuners continue to refine the GT-R performance. The task of driving this beast was given to non other than HKS favourite driver Nob Tanaguchi.

Allan McNish in number 3 Audi R18 crashed in the opening hour of 24 hours Le Mans. He was trying to overtake a slower ferrari but made contact with it and head straight to the barrier. It is a huge crash and luckily those media personnel and marshal behind the barrier was unhurt.

Talking about real wheel to wheel racing, you have to watch this video. In FIA GT3 race in Silverstone 2011 produce one of the most exciting battle of the day. Although it is not a battle for the first position but 6 cars have a chance to snap up 4th position. Overtaking take place at almost every corner and one mistake will cost a placing. Hat off to these guy. Great race and great to see Mercedes SLS and Ferrari 458 italia in GT3. These car are great!!

This is a act of stupidity. Stefan Mücke take action on his own over the incident where he was bump off the track and spin by Richard Westbrook and wrecked his Aston Martin. I wonder how would Stefan Mücke's team manager react against Stefan stupidity action.

Event : Chevrolet Cruze Road Show in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Date : 3-Apr-2011 Location : Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur Apr 3rd 2011, Chevrolet sole distributor in Malaysia Pavilion Crest Sdn Bhd had organize a roadshow Pavilion Kuala Lumpur to promote Chevrolet latest model Cruze. Chevrolet Cruze is widely use in Touring car competition and was the 2010 champion car in BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) which was driven by Fifth Gear host Jason Plato. The new Chevrolet Cruze is powered by a 1.8 liter DOHC 4 cylinder output 140HP and 179Nm. The engine has chevrolet DCVCP (Double Continuous Variable Cam Phrasing) and VIS (Variable Intake System) to improve emission and drive ability.

Event : FXOpen Drift Series 2011 - Round 3 Date : 26th - 27th Mar 2011 Location : Speedcity KL, Turf Club After a long wait, FXOpen Drift Series finally underway it final round in Speedcity KL in Turf Club Kuala Lumpur. I will be covering this event for Drivingmotion.com again after manage to secure a media pass from the organizer. FXOpen Drift Series offer rm100,000 for it winner and it is the highest prized money offer in a drifting event in Malaysia. So expect all driver to go all out to gun for the final winner spot. Tengku Djan Ley again be the favorite to win this round but he will facing tough challenge from other drifter such as Seh Ming Hui (Ah Fai), Ivan Lau and Tan Tat Wei.

It is done finally. Kumakubo's latest D1 drift machine Laurel C33 is out and running. Highly tuned RB26 with dry sump powered this machine which some predicted to produce 1000hp. Event : Rotax Max Challenge 2011 - Round 1 Date : 12-13 Mar 2011 Location : Speedway plus Track, Elite Highway Speedway plus Track, Elite Highway: Rotax Max Challenge 2011 round 1 was held in Elite Speedway Plus Track on 12-13 Mar 2011. It is a 20 lap race which divided into 4 categories which are Rotax DD2, Rotax Senior, Rotax Junior and Rotax Micromax. The highest point collected in both Pre-Final and Final race with be declared the winner of the round in each class.

Qatar was the latest location to held a Formula Drift event. It was part of Formula Drift expansion program to the rest of the world. Some of Formula Drift USA drifter such as Tanner Foust, Fredric Aasbo, Daijiro Yoshihara, Tony Brakohiapa and Michael Essa make the trip to Qatar and was join up by some of South East Asian finest such as Tengku Djan Ley and Kiki Sak Nana. It was Tanner Foust last outing in Formula Drift and he bow out in style. He took the win over Tengku Djan Ley after a nail biting battle. Having driving the most underpowered vehicle in the event with just under 400bhp on tap, Tengku Djan Ley proved that he had what it take to compete with top drifter in the world. However, second placing was a good finish for Djan. Fredric Aasbo took the last spot of the podium. After seven wonderful year of competing in Formula Drift, the two time Formula Drift champion and one of the most recognized face in Formula Drift, Tanner Foust will leave Formula Drift for 2011 season to focus on rallycross and television commitments. He will continue as one of the host of the second season Top Gear USA and participating in numerous Rallycross event in USA and Europe. Sadly, the famed Nascar V8 powered Rockstar Energy Scion TC will be temporary retired from any form of drifting competition. He will be driving Rockstar Energy Drink Ford Fiesta in Rallycross events. After months of silence finally the drift king had something to cheer up the drift fans. The new drift series that he and Dai-chan is working on will be named as "Drift Muscle Series". A little weird choice of name. But nevertheless, the machine will be based on D1SL machine standard and focus more on grassroot. Track layout will be more technical rather than high speed track and favor more on smaller tight track. It was rumors the event will kick start on 2012 but the truth is this event will kick start this year 2011. There will be 5 rounds this year. Since the departure of D1GP main judges Tsuchiya and Inada, many fans had doubt over the future of D1. Many had said D1 won't be the same without Tsuchiya and Inada. After month of searching, finally the decision had made. D1GP had announced it new judges line up to replace both Tsuchiya and Inada. The guys for that mammoth task are Time Attack Champ "Tarzan" Eiiji Yamada, Drift Tengoku editor Ryusuke Kawasaki, D1 assistant judge Hisashi Kamimoto, former Super GT driver and ex-D1 assistant judge Shinji Yamaji and ex-Super GT driver as well as Hot Version/Best Motoring presenter Akira Iida. Each individual had vast experience in motorsport. But the real question, do they able to win the Japan top drifter respect? Do they able to bring D1 to higher level? We will wait and see. He regarded by many as the world greatest F1 driver of all time. On his funeral, million lined the streets of his hometown of São Paulo to offer him their respect for the great driver. His death was consider by many of his Brazilian fan as national tragedy and to the extend that the Brazilian Government declared a three day national mourning. He is more than just a driver. Event : Rotax Invitational Race 2011 Date : 8-9 Jan 2011 Location : Sepang Go Kart Track Sepang Go Kart Track: Rotax Invitational Race 2011 is a invitation only race and mark as a start for Rotax Race calendar in 2011. Thanks to Ben from KRS motorsport for the media pass access. This was my very first taste of competitive kart racing. The race was divided into several categories such as DD2 Karts, Senoir Karts, Junior Karts and Micro Max Kadet Karts.

Kok Lai T in Kendall Ace Drift Challenge 2011 Round 1

In a very bizarre moment, J's Racing president Junichi Umemoto was arrested on 22nd January in Osaka for a murder charges. He would have not been charges the murder attempt had not he flee the scene. Umemoto initially brushed a pedestrian with his car, but flee the scene thinking it was a serious accident. One of the victim friend 39 year old Eiji Fujikawa, tried to stop Umemoto from leaving by jumping onto the car and holding onto the car side mirror. Umemoto continued to drive approximately 100 meters with Fujikawa hanging from the mirror. Fujikawa suffered a fractured skull from the incident and now remains in hospital, unconscious and in critical condition. Fujikawa pass away a few days later. More bad news follow that Hot version DVD had decided to remove the entire CR-Z Battle segment in which the J’s racing CR-Z and Umemoto were present. My condolences to Fujikawa's family. Following Tsuchiya departure from D1GP, here are the latest update from the Drift King. 1st Jan 2011, on his blog ( www.k1planning.com ) he left a message to all drift fans and driver on a new drift series that he are currently working on. Tsuchiya and Dai-chan are currently working on detail of the new drift series and will associate it with the team that produce Hot Version and Best Motoring. They aim to create the best drift series of it kind. Tsuchiya will not appear in Option Video, D1SL and Doriten video as all of them associate with D1. On an exclusive interview with Tsuchiya by 7tune.com, the drift king have release one or two teaser about the new drift series that he and dai-chan are working on. The new drift series will have car similar to D1SL level and will have a power cap to maintain the level of competition. Event : Kendall Ace Drift Challenge 2011 - Round 1 Date : 2-3 Jan 2011 Location : A'Famosa Resort, Alor Gajah, Melaka Alor Gajah, 2-3 Jan 2010: Kendall Ace Drift Challenge 2011 started it drifting series in A'Famosa Resort, Alor Gajah and it is the first drifting and motorsport event in 2011. In this round, a total of 55 cars participated which include sponsored pro drifter and privateer. With an affordable participation fee, Kendall Ace Drift Challenge serves as a good platform for pro drifter to test the new setup on their car and hone the skill of the privateer.

Event : Formula Drift Malaysia 2010 Date : 18-19 December 2010 Location : Dataran Merderka Kuala Lumpur: Formula Drift Malaysia 2010 is the final stop of Formula Drift Asian tour. Previous round was held in Thailand and Singapore. Formula Drift Malaysia 2010 took place in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Dataran Merdeka. The city view added the color to event and created a great motorsport carnival weekend. Defending champion Tengku Djan Ley was leading the scoring board period to this event. A debut appearance for 2008 D1gp champion Daigo Saito whom will be driving Hong Kong Team Type R Toyota Aristo.

This is the first Gymkhana Grid event in America and has proved to be successful with numerous professional competitors attending for a chance at claiming victory. In this exciting racing circuit, John and the team fought hard to climb up the ranks to prove the skilled privateer can compete amongst the big leagues and accomplish victory at the podium. The car was prepared for racing by Lotus Cars Malaysia and the whole project is spearheaded by head of Lotus Malaysia, Oh Kah Beng. Lotus used this event primarily as a shakedown for the car and to give Ben some much needed seat time and practice at Sepang since prior to this, he had only driven a handful of laps there. Ben & Lotus will be campaigning this Exige S in selected Time Attack and Gymkhana events around the region in 2011 and beyond. Event : Time To Attack 2010 Sepang Round 4 - Final Date : 12 Dec 2010 Location : Sepang International Circuit Sepang : It is time attack fever again. It is the last round and invitational round only. Time To Attack 2010 had come along way and when they look back on what they had achieve, it will put a big smile on them. Since it is the last round, many invited driver are getting more serious and determine to become the fastest in Sepang. Kazama Autoworks look to defend or maybe better their record 2:28:249 lap times set in the previous round. However, all eye will be on Farriz Fauzy in the Links-Mofaz Racing Nissan GT-R. He is back for the final round. Usual contender HKS dual Lim Ken Ji and Ee Yong Cheng as well as Lotus team are present.
