Location: Speedway plus Track, Elite Highway
Speedway plus Track, Elite Highway: Rotax Max Challenge 2011 round 1 was held in Elite Speedway Plus Track on 12-13 Mar 2011. It is a 20 lap race which divided into 4 categories which are Rotax DD2, Rotax Senior, Rotax Junior and Rotax Micromax. The highest point collected in both Pre-Final and Final race with be declared the winner of the round in each class.
Kelvin Choo took the overall winner in Rotax DD2 class with a total of 89 point after securing 1st placing in pre-final and second in final race. Guy Ermer took the second place with 82 point and completing the final podium places is Ken Smith also with 82 point. Both of them are tie in total point but Guy was awarded the second place due to his better placing in the final race.
In Rotax Senior class, Calvin Wong to emerged as the overall winner for round 1 after securing a third place finish in pre final and first place in final race with a total point of 87. It is a very close fight for the overall champion where Chang Mun Shien just marginally lost to Calvin Wong by a point. Calvin Seibl from KRS Motorsport was third in the class. Mohamed Farriz Fauzy from Mofaz Racing the 2010 Zerotohundred Time To Attack champion finished in a disappointing fifth place overall.
In Rotax Junior, it was a one horse race. Syazwan Mohd Noor dominated the Rotax Junior class by winning both pre-final and final race as well as the poll position during the time trial sesssion. Completing the final position in Rotax Junior Class were Gilbert Ang and Daim Hishammudin.
James Pull dominated and took the overall winner in the in Rotax Micromax Class . Followed closely behind was Muhammad Luqman Hakim from KRS Motorsport. It was a disappointing race for Jon Lee as he manage a third and sixth place finish in pre-final and final race having started from poll position. As a consolation for Jon, he took the last podium position with a overall point of 82.
The next round of Rotax Max Challenge 2011 will be held in Sepang GoKart Circuit on 7th and 8th of May 2011.
