Event: Kendall Ace Drift Challenge 2010 - Final

Malacca 6-7 November 2010: ACE suspension with helps from DRIFT.COM.MY, held the final round of KENDALL ACE Drift Challenge 2010 in Stadium Hang Jebat Malacca. This event was mainly sponsored by KENDALL Motor Oil. KENDALL Motor Oil is an engine oil originated from USA.
Team Goodyear Malaysia ace Ariff Johanis and his wife Azrina Jane Abdullah were present among the big name participating in this round. Other familiar names that took part are Ivan Lau from Team Bridgestone Malaysia and Johann Norman.
With the like of Bridgestone duo Tengku Djan Ley and Tan Tat Wei skipping this round to prepare for coming Formula drift in Bangkok, Ariff Johanis were on course to be crown as the overall champion in ACE Drift Challenge 2010.
The track was setup in Stadium Hang Jebat car park and the surface are rough and it is a tyre killer surface. The track start with a long straight for car to build up speed before entering a big left hand corner. Then it follow by two tight right hand and left hand corners.
During the practice session, there are quite a number of car crashing into the tyre barrier and some being force to retired from the event due to heavy damage.
As predicted, Ariff Johanis driving his trusty turbocharged AE86 coupe and goes all the way into final where he will up against Ivan Lau from Team Bridgestone. Both were equally matched and gave the judges a tough time.
The match goes into “ONE MORE TIME”. During the first run of the "OMT", both of them giving it all for the win. As they moving into the last corner of the track, rear end of Ariff's car hit Ivan's car which lifted Ariff's tail end and landed on Ivan's bonnet. Both suffer some damage on suspension and exterior but both insist to carry on the fight. Great spirit from both of them.
Ariff Johanis manage to hold off Ivan Lau and secure him the champion for this round and overall champion for this year KENDALL ACE Drift Challenge. KENDALL ACE Drift Challenge 2011 round 1 will start on 1-2 January 2011 in Famosa Resort Malacca.
